Fan Open Letter To Dbanj On His 10th Anniversary | Read

Dbanj’s 10th anniversary in the Nigerian music scene is this year and it is surely well anticipated. It is set to kick off in Lagos today with a party to be hosted by Amercian model, Amber Rose.
One of Dbanj’s fans just wrote, who goes by the name -Sir Rozlah, just wrote an open letter to the Kokomaster, praising him to the high heavens. The fan in the open letter regards D’banj as Africa’s greatest entertainer.
Read the letter below:
DECADE OF GLORY: THE MEMOIRS OF AN ENTERTAINER
To The KokoMaster,
D’banj,
Music is a difficult thing to define and individuals have different meanings for this word. However, it is undeniable that music is an art of some sort, a mixture of rhythm, words and acoustics carried through the wind by the magic of the moment in which it occurs. Some people redefine music and by so doing, define an era by their uniqueness, infectious charisma and undeniable passion for this art.
Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, is an enigma that defies all attempts to completely define him. You have blazed a trail in the annals of music on this continent and even beyond throughout your scintillating career. It has been a journey of ups and downs, breaking conventions and rewriting the rules in your own style and giving people like me the privilege of watching Africa’s Greatest Entertainer. Perhaps even more astounding is the ease with which you have kept audiences on their feet, blowing their minds away with your unique blend of vocal dexterity and life-based lyrics. Indeed it has been a decade of pure excellence, sheer class and extravagant performances from the Koko Master.
Your rise to prominence is no accident and those who were privileged to listen to you play the harmonica can attest to the hard work, dedication and sheer belief that has catapulted you to the zenith of your profession today. Asides from your undeniable contribution to the musical industry in Nigeria, it is the impact you have made outside the shores of this country and even the continent that stands you out among your peers. From your maiden award at the 2005 Kora Awards to the well-deserved Best Newcomer award bagged at the 2006 Channel O music awards, it was obvious that the trajectory was only going up from there. You kept on turning out hits despite the euphoria of past triumphs and the challenge of surpassing previous accomplishments. It is only fitting that you have a trophy cabinet littered with an avalanche of international, continental and domestic honours to show for your laudable efforts.
Moreover, your status as an outstanding entrepreneur is matched only by your passion for youth development in Africa. The Koko Foundation and the burgeoning ONE campaign are just examples of your foray into the field of selfless service. Every step you take is more than a milestone, signing a lucrative deal with the trendy audio company BeatByDre is more of pace setting as the First African Ambassador of Apple. As Nigeria’s first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace, you remain a beacon of hope in this troubled period. There are many ways to describe a man of excellence, a man of many parts, an enigma worthy of adulation and genuine adulation. I stand in awe of your existence as a human being and all you have achieved against the odds. It has been my greatest pleasure to be one of your biggest fans and to dream that one day, I can attain heights such as yours. You have proved that the sun can be reached even if the stars seem closer. I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to witness your magic at close quarters. Other men it is said have seen the angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough.
As you celebrate your 10th Year Anniversary in the Music Industry, may God Almighty make you greater as the well of your favour and grace shall not dry. You shall not fail, or stumble, and may God grant and always replenish your wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Welcome to another decade of multiple greatness. God bless you D’banj.
Long Live DKM Media, Long Live DbanjRecords, Long Live TeamDbanj, Long Live D’banj.
Yours Faithfully,

Why I Flaunt My Girlfriend- IK Ogbonna

In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna said people do advise him not to show off his girlfriend to the world, and he should always keep his relationship on a low key.Ogbonna said since he doesn’t cheat, he has nothing to hide. The actor told Saturday Beats that,“A lot of people tell me that since I am a fine boy and Nollywood’s bad boy, I should not let people know that I have a girlfriend because of the ladies. I believe that is total nonsense. As far as I am concerned, why should I live a fake life because I am in the public eye? Why shouldI lie to people that respect me? If someone is my fan, the person should respect me for who Iam. I cannot be dating someone and deny the lady of her right to happiness because I am in the public eye. Women like it when their men celebrate them except a lady that has skeleton in her cupboard.“I am not flaunting my woman; instead, I am living my life the way I should. I am doing things that will make my woman happy. I don’t cheat and that is why I am living my life the way I am. The disadvantage of being open about your private life is that some people try to destroy what you are trying to build. They spread all sorts of rumours but as far as you people are best of friends, you will laugh about such stories. Some people go to my instagram page to insult my girlfriend but when we see it, we laugh about it,”Ogbonna said ladies still chase him even whenthey know he have a girlfriend.“Even married men still have girls chasing them. As far as you have some money in your pocket, women will chase you. Times have changed now and people don’t care about yourstatus anymore, they go for what they want at every cost. What really matters is if I am willingto fall for the advances or stay focused. It will never change even if I get married. I am a principled young man even though I may flirt sometimes. I know where I am going to because I know where I am coming from.“Man can propose but God disposes. Every girlthat I have dated in my life, I have had the intention of getting married to them because I don’t believe in wasting my time. My time is very precious to me. I cannot also waste a woman’s time. When I am dating, it is courtship and I try to see if we are compatible enough to settle down together. I am very honest with who I am dating right now and she is also honest with me. If God makes us get to a stage where we can get married, I am not going to hide it. What makes you a man is the ability to leave the single sweet life and become one with another person. If the mindset of some people is too low to accept certain things, it will not stop me from living mylife,”

Etcetera’s Writes All Buhari’s Supporters

A new article by Etcetera which touches the subject of APC Presidential aspirants supporters. Check on it below:
Stupid is a word that has a broad range of applications, but it generally means a person lacks rudimentary intelligence or the ability to reason. It can also imply a congenital lack of capacity for reasoning, or a permanent state of daze or slow-mindedness.
Etcetera
Etcetera
However one defines or applies the word stupid, you can hardly think of the word without directly relating it to the utterances of some Buhari’s supporters; especially the supposedly literate ones.
Over the past week, it became apparent that the level of stupidity inherent in those inclined to support certain politicians at all cost is beyond comprehension.
In fact, it is frightening that so many Nigerians of voting age lack the fundamental reasoning ability of a second-grader and are even less-informed about basic facts than a kindergarten.
I have heard some of the most bizarre ideas peddled by some Buhari’s supporters and I am really concerned about the future of this country.
I have heard troubling statements like: “It really doesn’t matter if Buhari is qualified or not, he must be the next president and we’ll vote for him. Even if he presents a NEPA bill as certificate, we don’t care, we will vote for him. Are these people for real?
To base your position on whatever absurdity your favourite candidate espouses; regardless of reality is the reason why we are in this hell of a nation.
These are exactly the type of supporters Nigerian politicians bank on to win elections. These goons should know that in a democratic system, we live by the constitution and the Nigerian constitution in section 131 (d) gives a specific order for all presidential candidates to show proof of education up to a minimum standard not below school certificate or its equivalent.
If Buhari doesn’t have the required qualification, he should be disqualified immediately or if it is proven that his certificate or result was doctored or forged, he should be arrested and charged to court for deception.
Atahiru Jega and his INEC got us into this embarrassing position. How can someone refer INEC to the Secretary of the Military Board for his credentials when it is stated clearly that every contestant should attach copies of their qualification to their forms? INEC is a joke.
If elections are conducted like job interviews, can the applicant direct his would-be employers to his previous work place for his credentials? Won’t the applicant be chased off the premises with a stick or security dogs?
How do we bring about the clamoured “change” in the nation when we can’t treat the nation’s business as ours? Nobody is saying you shouldn’t support Buhari or any candidate of your choice but it shouldn’t be based on sentiments of any kind.
The other day, a radio presenter was screaming like a banshee on radio of how Buhari is a man of great ideas, you shouldn’t be the one telling us what Buhari’s ideas are. As a radio presenter, it is against NBC regulations for any presenter to influence listeners’ votes. Buhari should sell himself convincingly enough to earn their votes. Aren’t we tired of having leaders who can’t sell their ideas themselves? That’s why they haven’t approached the subject of how they are going to revive the economy in any of their campaign speeches?
Let’s not be stupefied into supporting any candidate. We are screaming for a corrupt free nation, yet we are refusing to see that electing someone without the required qualification is as good as endorsing corruption. No one would want to admit that half of this country’s population is inherently stupid, much less ignorant, but at the rate politicians garner votes based on sheer fantasy and lies, there is no other conclusion that makes any sense whatsoever. One thing is certain; if Nigerian voters were not so stupid, they would not knowingly go against what is right, whether for their personal, ethnic or religious interest.
Our politicians know that without stupid people, most of them would be extinct as viable political forces. But they are far from going extinct and it is all down to the level of stupidity permeating this sad ignorant nation.

How To Be The Main Chick, Side Piece And Bottom B*tch And Eliminate The Competition

Let’s talk about the cyclical relationships that women have in a man’s life. The main chick is annoyed at the side piece for trying to steal her man. The side piece is mad at the main chick for actually thinking that she can fully satisfy her man. The main chick and the side piece are mad at the bottom b*tch because they know that if all else fails their man will just go back to her. Don’t get me wrong, they are mad at the man for including the three of them in this situation but they aren’t planning on losing him. Therefore, they focus their efforts on trying to eliminate the other women in his life. Most of these efforts involve trying to expose their enemies to the man as disloyal, unqualified or unfit.

1)      Don’t let anyone know anything about you except that you are confident and comfortable – The best advantage that someone can have is when your enemies don’t know anything about the core of who you are. This way they can’t harm you with their attacks. When people think you have no personality and are simply a muse they underestimate you. Moreover, the appearance that you are confident and comfortable in yourself confuses your enemies. It leads to make errors and mistakes on their own without your doing.
2)      When he cheats on you; be cool not angry – When your man cheats on you and you get angry, he knows that you still care. The opposite of love is indifference. Use indifference to keep your composure and balance. This will throw everyone in the situation off. People will wonder why you’re not upset, angry and desiring to burn all his clothes. Again, never let them see you sweat.
3)      When he’s in trouble; be there for him – The one thing that a main chick and side piece know they don’t have to do is stick with a man through tough times. Either that or they are comfortable with letting him work through things on his own and get back to them when they’re in a better position. That’s when a bottom b*tch swoops in and provides that shoulder to cry on. If you can manage to be there for in the way his bottom would be and still stand tall as the main, you win.
4)      If all else in his life fails; welcome him back with open arms – Most women fail miserably at this and their pride gets in the way of their happiness. When a man hits rock bottom there is no one there for him not even his bottom. His main takes all she can get and finds another man. His side piece moves on to being another man’s side piece. All three of those women lose. In the fell chance they do take him back they create stiff rules and contingencies that aren’t welcoming. (Mainly, passwords to all his stuff and freedom to snoop whenever they want.) If you can take the pain that he’s caused you and channel it into loving him more, you win.

7 Things Your Friends Don’t Need To Know About Your Relationship

I’m a firm believer that you should share your life with your friends and that it’s important to be able to vent to them about the things in your everyday life. That being said, there are SOME things you should NOT tell your friends about your relationships. This is my list of the things not to tell your friends about your relationships.

1. FIGHTS

It’s okay to tell your friends about your relationship, it’s even okay to tell them when you get into a fight. But never go into the specifics unless you’re asking for an HONEST opinion. Friends that ask you to tell them if they’re being crazy about a fight that they’re having but don’t actually want to hear your opinion, are awkward people. So lets all keep our domestics to ourselves.

2. SEX

Don’t tell your friends the specifics of your sex life. Don’t tell them about any kinks your partner has because from that point on, your friend will never be able to look them in the eye again.

3. MONEY PROBLEMS

It’s okay to talk to your friends about money problems of your own but it’s not okay to bring your significant other’s finances into that conversation. A lot of people are very sensitive about what they perceive as weakness and that’s never a line you want to cross.

4. CHEATING (IF YOU’RE WORKING IT OUT)

If someone cheats on you and you dump them, feel free to tell all of your friends (and a few strangers) how much of a scumbag they are. But, if you’re working it out, NEVER tell your friends that your significant other has cheated. You may forgive them because you love them but your friends love you, and they won’t.

5. PROBLEMS IN THE BEDROOM

Once again, once you talk about this with your friends, they will never look at your partner the same way again. Your friends don’t need to know if you need to talk your significant other in for little blue pills. That’s something you should keep between you and your partner.

6. YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER’S PROBLEMS

Your friends are YOUR friends, and your partners problems really aren’t yours to share. Let your partner talk about their problems with whoever they choose. It’s not fair for your friends to know everything about your significant other’s life.

7. YOU SIGNIFICANT OTHER’S PAST RELATIONSHIPS

Once again, your friends are YOUR friends. They don’t need to know that four years ago the person you’re with had his heart-broken by an even woman named Tiwa. If that’s something they want to share with your friends, let them. But that isn’t exactly your place.

The Gift Of Friendship Is Invaluable

For many people, friends are a rare commodity and true friends ever more rare. I have said many times before that if you have true friends that amount to the fingers on one hand you are truly blessed. Such was the case of two very special friends who were true to me no matter what happened over the years.

One of these friends was my older sister who I lost a few years ago to cancer and for me was a great sorrow. She was always there for me through all my various issues over the years and I would like to think that I was there for her especially through the last trying years of her life and she bravely fought cancer. Unfortunately, she didn't win but what she never lost was my undying love and affection. I am very grateful that I had the chance to not only be a brother but a friend with her for many, many years. Her presence is still with me and she will never be forgotten for her kindness, encouragement, and devotion to her own family and to me.

I also had the privilege of knowing and being a friend to a special man who I went to university with and who also became the God-parent to one of my sons, in fact, my first born. Now, I'm sure all those males out there who may read this story will testify to is that they have had some great buddies over time and some still have the same good friends from their early school days. Well, I'm sure you appreciate them; at least I hope you do.

For me, I will always remember that fateful day when I received a call from his cousin who told me that he had died. I was in total shock. He was a vibrant person, never sick, no signs of weakness and in fact during our undergrad days we often played handball twice a week for several hours at a time. Barely able to speak, I asked what happened thinking that there may have been a car accident. What I was told totally blew me away - he died of a burst aneurysm. How could this be? A healthy and active person - what cruel fate had lead to the death of a thirty-four year old, seemingly healthy male?

And, to make his loss even more difficult for me, I met his mother for the first time at the funeral. She recounted how often her son talked of our friendship and our fun together. And, to even add further to my despair, I was asked to be one of his pallbearers. I know that this was an honor but at the time I felt a tremendous weight on my shoulders as I carried my friend to the waiting hearse.

To this day, I still don't remember much about that drive to his gravesite even though I was in the car immediately behind the hearse. The only thing I recall is that I stared at the back of the hearse in utter disbelief that it was carrying my friend.

Over the years since, I often recall these special friends that are no longer here and wish that I could have spent more time with them. I often ask myself if I valued their friendship enough, did I really let them know how much they were part of my life? Maybe this is a sentiment that is felt by many people who lose a valuable friend. On the other hand, I can tell you this. I am fortunate to be able to have known them, to have been part of their life and to spend good times with them.

Friendship is a gift, value it!

His decision to take a new wife is in line with Islamic injunction which prescribes a maximum of 4 wives for those who can treat all of them equally. Already, Sanusi has 3 beautiful wives – Sadiya, Maryam and Rakiya.
Like in ancient times when bonds between empires were deepened by marriages among royals and nobles across boundaries, the betrothal of the Adamawa princess to Emir Sanusi II may also be a move to deepen royal bond between Adamawa and Kano.
