The death toll of the current Ebola outbreak has reached 6,928, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Saturday, November 29.
The new report shows that a whopping 1239 people have died since the WHO released the last casualty figure of 5,689 on Wednesday, November 26.
The
UN agency did not offer any explanation for the rapid increase in cases
at a time when it was believed that the worst of the outbreak was
almost over.
More than 16,000 cases of the disease
have also been recorded with the bulk of infections and deaths
occurring in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone
