Cynthia Onuoha

How long have you been acting?

My journey in Nollywood has been eventful and interesting. I have been in the industry for more than 10 years; though it has been on and off. I actually went back to school to get a degree and to also establish my business.

What actually inspired you into Nollywood?

I have always loved acting right from my secondary school days where I acted as a lawyer in a drama entitled, The Incorruptible Judge. Ever since then acting has been a passion I have always wanted to practice. It is part of me.

How many movies have you done so far?

I have done quite a few but I don’t usually keep count. At least, I can remember some. I have featured in Fresh Pain, Shotgun, Where is Love, My Only Eye, Not Man Enough, Mother of Faith, Rat Race, Aki the Blind, Female Hunter, Madam Monica, among many others.

Which is the most challenging and why?

Temple of Riches was the most challenging for me so far because the character had mystic powers and there was this part where I had to trap someone in a bottle and I couldn’t stop my hand from shaking.

Who is your favourite Nigerian actor and actress and why?

Aunty Genny Nnaji, aunty Eucharia Anonuobi and Uncle Olu Jacobs. I love their acting but most especially their command of the English language. They inspire me to work harder.

Tell us about your role models?

Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie are my role Models. They are just fantastic. I can stay glued to my television set whenever I watch these great ladies and their accomplishments. They have contributed immensely to the motion picture industry.

What role can you not play and why?

There are certain things that are just not the way to go for me. I cannot go nude all in the name of acting. It is totally out of the equation but I wouldn’t mind showing my legs.

Aside acting what else do you do?

Aside acting I am a fashion freak. I just love fashion. I am an entrepreneur who deals in unisex clothing and accessories. As I improve in my acting profession, I am also working assiduously in taking fashion to the next level. I intend to become a household name in the fashion world soon. That is my goal.

Could you tell us about your love life?

This one is private. I need to keep my personal life personal.

How many times have you been heartbroken?

To be very honest with you, heartbreak is not something that should happen to anyone because some people end up not surviving it. But unfortunately, it has happened to me twice and I came out stronger. That is all I can say about that. It is not a good experience.

Are you single and searching now?

All I can say is that I am happily single but don’t know about searching.

What kind of man would you want to have as husband?

I am in for a tall, hardworking, handsome, caring, educated man with the fear of God. I don’t fall for short guys simply because they don’t appeal to me and they aren’t sexy.

What part of your body do you cherish the most and why?

As you can see, I am wonderfully made in God’s image so, I am complete. I have no regrets whatsoever the way God made me.  I love every part of my body but my smile is designed specially by God.

What is your impression of Nollywood?

We cannot say in all honesty that we are not making progress. It is very obvious that we are growing day by day but there is room for improvement. We need to do more. Producers and marketers need to give the new ones the opportunity to excel and show what they’ve got.

Tell us a little more about yourself?

I am Onuoha Cynthia Nkeiruka. I am from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. I am from a family of eight; six females and two males. As I said earlier, I am an actress.
